Music Is The Inspiration That Keeps Most Of Us Going; Singing A Song Is Healthy!

As a Christian singing is second nature. We praise and worship God with our voice, although a few denominations do not use music, and to me that's sad. The book of Psalms has worship "pleasing to God" described in the last three chapters.  Making a joyful noise unto the Lord is something God loves.

Bands and music in Church is what it's all about, and most of us like the music better than the preaching.  Music was created by God, and that's why it's so powerful for good or evil. Even Lucifer was the Angel created to be over Musical Worship in Heaven, before he decided to exalt himself above God, and that sin got him thrown down to earth in an instant. The talent of musical expression can be used in many ways, and the curses and blessings come accordingly.

Satan (Lucifer) uses music to pull people into worldly pleasures and not worship God. The power of song is powerful.  All gifts are irrevocable, just like natural laws. Gravity isn't stopped because someone is thrown off a building, just as music ability isn't withdrawn because someone uses it to glorify adultery or some other sin.  There is a scripture that says "the gifts and the calling of God are without repentence."  That means they aren't taken away, just because the person is using them for evil purposes.  The blessings come for those who use them for the purpose intended.

Sometimes a worship song like 'Because He Lives" will rise up in my spirit as I'm driving along, and it makes me  appreciate the work of the Gaithers, who have given us the old gospel songs in newer versions or by older quartets or singers. Many of those great people have gone on to be with the Lord, but their music and songs live on through the work of those who saw a new generation, who needed to hear what was great about the 'greatest generation' and their love of God and Country.  Patriotism rises up in me when I hear the "National Anthem" or "His Truth Is Marching On",  it's music that defines reality for some of us.

As a child, I was taken to many outdoor 'singings' or to hear 'gospel quartets', and that shaped my love of music.  I also attended Bluegrass concerts like the free ones we have locally 'on the green' downtown in summer.  I love symphanies and even the occasional opera.  I do sing along to the "oldies but goodies" on the radio, but my favorites are always the contemporay worship songs that are glorifying my creator.

What we put in our spirit is what will come out in difficult times, so I try to put in great music and worship songs that strengthen the soul. Music begins a worship service,  because in centuries prior the musicians preceded the soldiers going to war, and prepared their hearts for battle.  Battles were won from that beginning of music and song, because nothing moves the heart of God like a properly chosen song.

"Sing a Song" and let your heart be lifted. Music is therapy for those who use soft and soothing music for anxiety or stress. We sing lullabies to our babies so they will fall asleep. Dentists and Doctors pump soft music into waiting rooms, and while we are on "telephone hold" many businesses play music while we wait. I do have to say the choices aren't always right, but nonetheless music works to move us to a better place, if chosen properly.  Christmas music puts us in the mood for the holiday, just as worship music puts us in the mood for Church.

The right song in the right place can work wonders for our emotional health!
