NOW We Begin The Week Of The Three Miracles, And Try To Emulate Jesus Teachings!

Santa and presents are behind us, and now we move into the week, in which we are to show love to one another and live as Jesus told us to. We are to celebrate the Nativity, The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan, and The Miracle at Cana. Yes, Jesus turned the water into wine at the Wedding in Cana...it was not grape juice. There is symbolism that exists to show us the prophecies and promises, however, when it comes to 'acts of Jesus' you will find they were literal.
What this means during this week is that all of the trimmings and decorations are put away for another year. Bonfires are made and the trees tossed on them as a finale to the week. Children dress up in some places, and carol around the neighborhoods to receive candy canes and treats. Sounds almost like Halloween doesn't it? I think hot dogs and marshmellows could liven up that bonfire get together....and if you're a Vegan, no problem, they make veggie ones.
As we reflect on all of the activities still associated with Christmas, there are the Twelve Days of Christmas, which have had christian biblical details applied. I will post that below for you to remember during the days ahead. So don't take those decorations down yet, and keep up the joy of the season until January 6 th. At that time we can all rejoice in the fact that both Jew and Gentile are part of the family of God, and no one need be left out, except by their own choice.
On the First Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to me: True Love=God
1 Partridge In A Pear Tree- Jesus
2 Two Turtle Doves refer to The Old and New Testament
3.Three French Hens are Faith Hope and Charity, the Theological Virtues; The Magi's 3 Gifts
4 Four Calling Birds are Four Gospels or Four Evangelists
5 Golden Rings refers to the first Five Books of the Old Testament, the "Pentateuch", which gives the history of man's fall from grace.
6 Geese A-laying refers to the six days of creation
7 Swans A-swimming refers to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, the seven sacraments
8 Maids A-milking refers to the eight beatitudes
9 Ladies Dancing refers to the nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit
10 Lords A-leaping refers to the ten commandments
11 Pipers Piping refers to the eleven faithful apostles
12 Drummers Drumming refers to the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle's Creed
Surely, some creative soul took the secular song and found great Bible facts to fit with the verses. Great Idea.
So don't mull about that Christmas is over, NO, it's not. It's just beginning, and another point of The Epiphany is that if you like gifts, some cultures give a little gift to each other daily until the Twelve Days are complete. Sounds like Christmas can last right up until January 6 th....or as some protestants do, it's right up until Ash Wednesday. AS for me, it's Christmas every day...no need for presents. I believe our undeserved favor is the gift of Grace every day!

Frankly, I cannot remember the secular version of the 12 days of Christmas getting biblical references to each of the days but I really like it. Makes a whole lot more sense this way and is worth remembering.
