An herb is a plant, that is annual, biannual, or perennial, known to be used for medicinal purposes. Wormwood has been around for centuries, and has been used for medicinal purposed, since 1600BC. Artemisia absinthium is the name for wormwood, which is in the Daisy family. Hippocrates recommended the use of Absinthe (wormwood) for jaundice.
In our house, Wormwood is one ingredient in a cleanse we do annually, which also has black walnut hulls, and oil of cloves. When concentrated plant leaves are used in natural products, there has to be control over the amount. Some people do not realize that 'too much' can be harmful, instead of helpful.
There are several websites, which talk about Wormwood, and it's uses.
The poets, artists, and creative minds of the 19th century drank the green drink, Absinthe (a liquor), for the wormwood properties of inspiration, and clarity of thought, to create. As with all alternative medicines, it pays to be careful, as to dose, and how often one uses the herbs, leaves, or drinks Absinthe.
