Get That Strange Tint Out of Your Hair

Does your hair color fade quickly? Do you get yellow streaks in your natural hair instead of the gorgeous white that comes with age and wisdom? How about your blonde color going green after swimming in a pool? Have you found your brunette color becoming streaked or dull? Then you might want to try the following to get back that great look. This tip was given to me by my hair stylist during my last visit. It seems our well water is oversupplied with iron, and it is a culprit of those yellow lackluster streaks preventing my natural platinum to shine.

I had quit coloring my hair to go natural, so just as blondes get a yellow tint in pool water, there is a danger to natural greying or white hair from shampooing in water with a lot of iron. The Condo Association has a private organization putting the chemicals or chlorine in the well, that also contribute to making my hair look weird. It was getting that dull listless yellow from iron in the water, that must go now. So that creates a need for me to wash that iron out of my hair with a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with my shampoo for the next month or longer. I like simplicity in care and upkeep, as my life is complicated enough already. Baking soda is a good product, and does great things as Sherry told me, and you can use it to clean rust deposits in sinks, drains and other places.
If you have grey or white hair use the purple shampoo and rinse you can buy at the Beauty Supply Store in your area, and leave it on for at least a few minutes before washing out.
Who knew it would return your hair to its natural color by removing iron deposits? Maybe you did, but I didn't.

When it comes to hair, and with thick, fast growing hair it isn't as simple as, just wash and go. Most women go against the grain and perm, color or stretch their hair into whatever fad is happening at the time. I prefer that straight bob slightly turned under, which works well with my hair. If I never see another perm it will be too soon. In my youth the desire to do what everyone else was doing meant perming, streaking, and doing everything that was not natural to my hair. Now I go with the flow, and it works great. When we go against the grain of what we were given, it's like a Salmon swimming upstream, and the battle is great. Those with wavy or curly hair want straight, and those with straight, heavy hair want light and curly. What does that say about us? Now some women look better with a perm and a certain haircut, but some need to adapt to what they have ,and find a simple solution that saves money and nerves.

All that said, there is an answer to your hair problem. So get the yellow or green out with a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with your shampoo for a few weeks. If you are going "against the grain" of your type of hair, then you may want to consider a cut that works better with your hair thickness, texture and natural straight or curly tendency. Simplicity works best, and there are rinses that help keep the yellow away, and there are other kitchen products that help our tired, split ends. Your hairdresser may be a virtual well of information to keeping the beauty that God gave you. So if something looks weird, just take a look at what's in the water you use to wash your hair first. If you do a lot of swimming, and you keep the blonde look, then a swimmers cap may save you a fortune. So give the baking soda a try, and use good quality products for a better look.

Hey Lady, this is good advice. Just a little Baking Soda is it? Well what do you make of the styles of red, hot pink or blue or purple now. I have a family member and a friend of hers that sport some wild doo's. Pebbles with nearly a bald head colored on the Pebbles part in bright hot pink? I've seen some interesting mohawks too. Funny thing, though, I'm getting used to it. Red, blue, rainbow, whatever. But natural color with yellowing - reminds me of a white horse's tail that's just not squeaky clean. Or it reminds me of a white dog that has a yellowing mustache. I don't like it on my animals and I surely don't like it on folks. So listen up, take some of that baking soda and dunk your handlebar mustache or your grungy hair and get the buildup of stuff out. All kidding aside - I enjoyed your article!
